Welcome to Casa Azelia - a delightful rustic hideaway on the fringes of Cortona, set in a small hamlet amidst the olive groves, vineyards and fields of golden sunflowers.

Forming part of an old stone house, the spacious ground floor apartment, which sleeps 2(4) people, has been lovingly restored to preserve its original features such as terracotta tile floors and chestnut beams. Combined with carefully chosen modern kitchen and bathroom facilities, it is an idyllic retreat. Benefiting from a private courtyard garden, with a bar-b-q area, and use of small pool. An array of Mediterranean herbs and shrubs provides a colourful, scented space to relax.

The house is on the edge of Cortona - the lovely Etruscan town featured in Frances Mayes' book 'Under The Tuscan Sun', and the film of the same name.

Cortona is charming in its own right, with its glorious views, cobbled streets and piazza cafes and restaurants - in fact you will find it hard to leave. However it is also an ideal base for exploring the delights of Tuscany and Umbria. Florence, Siena, Montepulciano, Assisi and Perugia are all within an hour's drive; while just twenty minutes down the road, the lovely beaches, islands and hilltop villages of Lake Trasimeno beckon. For those who don't want to drive the station is about half a mile away, and there are good rail connections, with Rome approximately a two hour journey.
